Gaming officials report a surge in fake online casinos across Arizona

(Phoenix).- The Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG) warned on Monday about a troubling nationwide trend impacting Arizona gamblers. The department released a consumer protection alert regarding fraudulent operators falsely claiming that legitimate Arizona casinos have introduced online gaming platforms.

Gaming officials report a surge in fake online casinos across Arizona

Officials say online casinos are not legal in Arizona, and any claims to the contrary are “highly suspicious.” They added that the scams could rip off Arizonans and hurt the integrity of Arizona’s gaming industry.

The ADG said it has received multiple reports of fake online casinos and these scams misleading Arizonans. The illegal online platforms advertise on social media and tell users to download apps and visit websites to lure players to spend money on illegitimate games.

Officials say since the ADG doesn’t regulate the fake online sites, victims have little to no chance of recovering the money they’ve lost. “It is important to remember that just because you can download the app, visit the website, and play the games, it does not mean it is a legitimate and legal gaming platform,” the department said in a statement.
